The Leader's Revelation (Perth Conf)
Matt 16:13-23
When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, "Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?" 14 So they said, "Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets."
15 He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?"
16 Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
17 Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.
19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." 20 Then He commanded His disciples that they should tell no one that He was Jesus the Christ.
21 From that time Jesus began to show to His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day. 22 Then Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, "Far be it from You, Lord; this shall not happen to You!" 23 But He turned and said to Peter, "Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men."
“Who do men say that I am?”
“Who do you say that I am?”
Are you going to say what everyone else is saying?
How you see Jesus will determine what you receive from Jesus
In Nazareth, their familiarity with Jesus caused them to miss the revelation
Which caused them to missed their reward
When Simon got the revelation of who Jesus was
It set the stage for Simon to become who he was supposed to be – Peter (Rock)
This principle applies to you and your Pastor
- Without a revelation of “who” he is, you will only say what others say
- You will deal with the Pastor based on your expectations – creating limitations
- Miss who he is to be in your life – and the reward from who he is in your life
When you miss who he is in your life, you can miss who you are supposed to become
When we see Him correctly, we get a correct view of ourselves.
When we get the revelation of our man or woman of God
God will use them to help us achieve our destiny
If we don’t see our leader correctly, we will resist the process of change
Because Simon can’t reach Peter’s destiny
Just as Saul couldn’t reach Paul’s destiny
The release of the prophetic word was not the release of the person
He still had to go through the process of change
God calls you father, not because you are, but because you will be
Change happens from relationship, not revelation
Just because our revelation was from God, doesn’t mean our interpretation is from God
Our spiritual revelations are subject to personal interpretations
ex. a few verses later, Peter is challenging Jesus’ destiny
We must have relationships that develop us – Father, Mentor, Coach or Teacher
People in our life who can correct us – “Get behind me Satan”
“Where else can we go? Only you have Words for my life.”
Notice this: Peter got the revelation of who Jesus was, but he still denied Him
Because Peter’s change was not complete until he got Jesus’ Spirit
His leader’s spirit
Difference…
Revelation of Leadership – Ex 18
Leaders of 1,000s, 100s, 50s, 10s
Spirit of the Leader – Num 11, Pastor Moses still frustrated & ready to quit
(vs.17) I will take of your Spirit and will put the same upon the 70 who have a revelation of leadership
1 way I get the spirit of my Pastor?
- · Stand with him & away from the congregation
- o Catch Pastor’s spirit and not the people’s
- § Tell the people what the Pastor is saying, not the other way around
- o Catch Pastor’s spirit and not the people’s
Num 11:17. I will take of the Spirit that is upon you and will put the same upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you may not bear it yourself alone.
The burden: “prophetic utterance”
- · Jer 23:33-38 “The burden of the Lord” 8x
- · Other prophets “The burden of a nation” is the prophetic word to that nation
You will say the same thing, not because you are quoting the pastor,
But because you have the same spirit
Amplify the Pastor’s Vision, which is the Vision of the House
A silent friend is a public enemy
Revelation of the Church or “Discernment of the Body” – to “build the body”
1 Cor 11:29-30. For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. 30 For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep (or die).
Discernment leads to the Body being Strong, Well, Alive and Growing
Things aren’t working because we haven’t discerned His Church
Functioning on other’s expectations of what church is
Former church, former pastor
When you do…
You will begin to get Super-Vision
For the part of the body you are responsible for
God will give you Keys
Unlock things in the heavens – leadership and building becomes spiritual
There will be Supernatural Release of Provision
Phil 4:19. My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Everyone doesn’t have access to this promise
It's a promise into the account of those who give to the man of God
Phil 4:15-19
Now you Philippians know also that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church shared with me concerning giving and receiving but you only. 16 For even in Thessalonica you sent aid once and again for my necessities. 17 Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account. 18 Indeed I have all and abound. I am full, having received from Epaphroditus the things sent from you, a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God. 19 And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus
So…
Ezek 44:28-30
And it shall be unto them for an inheritance: I am their inheritance: and ye shall give them no possession in Israel: I am their possession. 29 They shall eat the meat offering, and the sin offering, and the trespass offering; and every dedicated thing in Israel shall be theirs.
30 And the first of all the firstfruits of all things, and every oblation of all, of every sort of your oblations, shall be the priest's: ye shall also give unto the priest the first of your dough, that he may cause the blessing to rest in thine house. KJV
