When We Sing (Perth Conf)
Have you ever noticed how you contend with things on Sunday, before going to worship, that you don't contend with on other days?
Our enemy wants to create an Environment to stop your worship
Hell: Created for the the Devil
What makes a place “hell” is that it is away from the Presence of God
Misery loves company...
Bring you out of the presence of God
Worship brings us into the presence of God - which the enemy seeks to prevent because...
- The devil has seen the face of God in response to worship
- The devil knows the power of worship
What happens When We Sing?
We say the same thing with One Another
- · Agreement: symphony
We Prophesy: say the same things as God
The battle is for your mouth
Why?
- Death and life are in the power of your tongue – Prov 18:21
- We shall have what we say
- Our words have creative power and life
Speak things into existence
Why it’s important not just that we sing, but what we sing
When we sing, God sings with us
Look at what happens when we sing and God sings with us
Isa 30:29-32
29 You shall have a song as in the night when a holy festival is kept,
And gladness of heart as when one goes with a flute,
To come into the mountain of the Lord, to the Mighty One of Israel.
30 The Lord will cause His glorious voice to be heard, snd show the descent of His arm,
With the indignation of His anger and the flame of a devouring fire,
With scattering, tempest, and hailstones.
31 For through the voice of the Lord Assyria will be beaten down, as He strikes with the rod.
32 And in every place where the staff of punishment passes, which the Lord lays on him,
It will be with tambourines and harps; and in battles of brandishing He will fight with it.
It Confuses and Divides the enemy
2 Chron 20:20-23
20 So they rose early in the morning and went out into the Wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, "Hear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper." 21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the Lord, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying:
"Praise the Lord, for His mercy endures forever."
22 Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated. 23 For the people of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir to utterly kill and destroy them. And when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another.
